Lunar Solar Power Generation – The Next Generation of Solar Power

Lunar solar power generation may not be a common phrase around your house, but it could be given the time and effort by the researchers. Solar power currently is a major source of power in both the commercial and residential world.

It gives everyone the option of living through natural means to conserve our fast fading non-renewable resources. There have been many ideas on how to expand on solar power and one of those ideas is through lunar solar power generation.

Instead of using the sun to bring us solar power, we would get our solar power generation through the moon. First it was proposed that a giant satellite be put up into the orbit around the earth so that it can gather solar power out of space. Then came another proposal for solar power would be that we collect solar power straight from the moon. This would be done through the functioning of wavelength of microwaves that could provide solar power to the entire world. These microwaves that are set up will pass through rain, clouds, dust, and smoke to allow them to be used at all times.

The power will be supplied to rectennas during the nighttime which will be located all around the world. That provides at least two kilowatts of electricity per person which will be enough for the entire population even with the growth that it is expected. As many 10 billion people can be served by this lunar solar power generation which is expected to be the population around the year 2050. Imagine if we didn’t have solar power in place by that year? As we have seen only in the past 30 years, our resources are growing more and more scarce and we are paying larger amounts of money for them. It is about time we get something in place to protect us from this. .

With lunar solar power generation systems there is also the added benefit of less space being needed to give the entire world solar power. It takes only 5% of what it takes right now to give us the same amount of electricity when using lunar solar power generation. Furthermore, the cost per kilowatt would only be one-tenth of what it costs us to give our entire home electricity and heat. Lastly, you wouldn’t have to use the non-renewable resources, which could protect our world for thousands of more years. This kind of solar power is not just a fantasy either. This is the next generation of solar power and according to the researchers and the people working on this exciting technology, it could be here within 30 years.
