Solar Power – How It Works

When you are looking for solar power and how it works you have two choices to decide from. First you have solar thermal and then you have photovoltaic solar power. Solar power is made of infrared energy that is taken directly from the sunlight and it can heat water or certain material that can later release the heat that was stored.

By harnessing solar thermal energy you can radiate the stored heat back into your home when the sun goes down or when there is not enough sunlight to heat the water at the exact moment that you need it.

Looking at solar power and how it works, you will see that solar photovoltaic energy allows sunlight to be converted into electrical energy. The things you need for this type of solar power are the photovoltaic panels or solar panels that can be mounted on your roof. Basically that explains both types of solar power and how it works.

When you are deciding on which type of solar power to use, and learning about solar power and how it works, you need to look at both types of solar power. First you should look at why these panels are either on the north or south side of the roof. They do this because they need to get the most out of the sun. In the southern areas they need to face the north, and in the northern areas they need to face the south.

Again, learning about solar power and how it works, you need to consider the method by which photovoltaic cells can produce electricity. It is a lot easier then what it sounds like actually. The photovoltaic cells make up a group of cells that the panel consists of. Each cell is made from silicon wafer which is a conductor of electricity and easily collects the light from the sun when the sun strikes the electrons of the wafers and creates an electrical current.

While you are learning about solar power and how it works, you should try to understand the makeup of the solar power system for homes. You can use the photovoltaic panels, charging controller, but there is also a battery pack and inverter. Putting all of these together you can use the solar power systems for both heat and electricity. When you know what makes up solar power you can figure out if it is the right source of power for you. Eventually you will see that it is more cost efficient and has many advantages that typical fossil fuels just don’t have.
